Dr. Ravindra (Appa) Jnyaneshwar Yelwande, a proud son of Charholi Budruk, is a distinguished philanthropist, agriculturist, real estate developer, and community leader. Born on June 11, 1962, into a humble farming family, his early life was marked by severe hardships. Despite limited resources, he walked barefoot for kilometers every day to attend school, demonstrating remarkable determination from a young age.
To acquire modern farming techniques, Dr. Yelwande worked tirelessly on a Parsi-owned farm for five years, gaining invaluable knowledge that would later transform his agricultural endeavors. Applying these modern methods on his own land, he achieved record-breaking crop yields, setting a benchmark for progressive farming in the region.
His entrepreneurial spirit soon led him to the real estate sector, where he built a reputation for transparency and trust. Over the course of his career, he successfully completed more than 50 real estate transactions, earning the respect of clients and peers alike.
Dr. Yelwande's commitment to social service is equally profound. For 16 years, he served as an office-bearer at the Shambhuraje Training Institute, where he managed and operated a wrestling akhada (arena), nurturing young athletes and promoting traditional sports. Through the Wageshwar Sports Foundation, he founded the Charholi Budruk Women's Kabaddi Team, empowering women in rural sports.
His philanthropic initiatives extend across multiple domains: organizing free medical check-up camps at the Sant Jnyaneshwar Temple, distributing food during religious pilgrimages, and providing clothing and educational support to underprivileged students.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions to Community Empowerment and Philanthropy, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by Luciana Research University, USA, on April 19, 2026. Shortly thereafter, on May 24, 2026, he was honored with the prestigious "Asia Book of Records – The Chronicle of Excellence" award at a ceremony held at the New Moshi Grand Hotel in Moshi.
Dr. Yelwande's journey from a poor farmer's son struggling for education to a globally recognized social reformer and successful entrepreneur continues to inspire countless young people across the region.
